Climate Thanatology Exhibition
A co-curated exhibition with Heidi Hart and the 68 Art Institute in Copenhagen. Bringing together a team of musicians, dancers, performance artists and activists, we explored using public approaches to lament in order to process the grief of ecological loss. Born out of music thanatology — a practice of accompanying the dying with music designed to co-regulate their nervous systems — we conceived of Climate Thanatology, an approach to planetary grief that uses art, movement, and public grieving processes to confront a dying world and take action to defend it. Installations included a Walk for Lost Species, an interactive shadow puppet performance piece, climate grief cafes, and a grief shrine incorporating paper made with liquids from threatened bodies of water.
